HIFU treatment Brisbane — overview
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-surgical lifting and tightening treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to reach the deep SMAS layer of the face — the same structural layer a surgeon lifts in a traditional facelift. At Brisbane HIFU Clinic in Hamilton we use the UltraTherapy 15D MMFU platform, which treats at multiple depths in the same session for a layered lift plus surface refinement.
Our clients book HIFU because it works without needles, knives or downtime. You can read more about the technology on our HIFU Brisbane page.
Step-by-step: what happens during a HIFU appointment
Step 1 — arrival and consult: a short chat with your HIFU Master to confirm treatment areas, expectations and any contraindications. Step 2 — preparation: we cleanse the skin and mark out the treatment zones (face, jawline, neck, brow, eye area as planned). Step 3 — gel: a clear ultrasound gel is applied to allow the handpiece to glide cleanly. Step 4 — treatment: the UltraTherapy 15D handpiece is moved across each zone in measured lines, delivering focused energy at the chosen depths. Step 5 — finish: gel is wiped off, skin is calmed, and you're free to return to normal life immediately.
How long does a HIFU treatment take?
Most HIFU treatments at our Brisbane clinic take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated. A focused single zone (eyes only, jawline only, or neck only) usually runs around 30 minutes. A full face + neck typically takes 45–60 minutes. Add 10–15 minutes at the start for the consult and skin prep, so we recommend allowing roughly an hour in your day for a full-face appointment. There's no recovery time afterwards — you can drive yourself home, return to work, head to the gym, or carry on with the rest of your day exactly as planned.
Does HIFU treatment hurt? (honest answer)
Honest answer: HIFU isn't painful, but you do feel it. Most clients describe a warm, prickling or tingling sensation as each line of energy is delivered — more noticeable along bony areas like the jawline and brow, and gentler over fleshier zones like the cheeks and neck. The sensation lasts only the moment of delivery and then settles immediately. Our HIFU Masters adjust the energy depth and density to your tolerance throughout the session, and we always check in as we move between zones. The vast majority of our 132 five-star Google reviewers describe the experience as "totally manageable" and absolutely worth the result.
HIFU treatment cost in Brisbane — packages and pricing
We publish every price up front. A single half-face HIFU treatment starts from $300, full face + neck from $500, and we offer discounted 3-treatment packages for clients who want a full collagen-stacking program. Targeted treatments (eye lift, double chin, brow) are priced individually so you only pay for what you need. Full pricing is on our HIFU cost Brisbane page, with current promotions on HIFU deals.
How many HIFU sessions do I need?
Many clients see a real difference after a single HIFU treatment, especially if they're starting earlier (30s–early 40s) with mild laxity. For stronger, longer-lasting results we recommend a 3-treatment program spaced across several months. Each session stacks the collagen response, so the lift compounds and holds for roughly 12–18 months before a maintenance top-up. During your in-clinic consult we'll be honest about what one session can realistically achieve for your skin versus where a full program would deliver a better outcome.
Aftercare — what to do (and not do) after your HIFU treatment
HIFU aftercare is refreshingly simple. Do: drink plenty of water, keep up your normal cleanser and moisturiser, wear SPF every morning, and let the collagen process do its work over the following 8–12 weeks. Don't: book heat-based treatments (sauna, hot yoga, very hot showers) for 24 hours, and avoid aggressive actives (high-strength retinol, acid peels, microneedling) for about a week to let the skin settle. There's no peeling, no scabbing, no bandaging. Mild redness or slight tenderness on bony areas can occur but typically settles the same day.
When will I see results?
Many clients notice an immediate "freshness" and gentle tightening on day one — that's the initial collagen contraction. Over the next 2–4 weeks the skin continues to firm subtly. The biggest visible change typically lands between weeks 8 and 12, when newly remodelled collagen has matured and the deeper lift becomes obvious in photos and in the mirror.
